a/n;; This is for Kane-the-Warrior. Thanks for liking my stuff!
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto. Do you really think I'd be writing Naruto fanfiction if I did? No. I'd be making episodes of Neji and Tenten making out. And Sasuke getting mad. Because Sasuke and Tenten are the best crack couple out there.
Hey Sakura 1/18/07
"Hey Sakura, will you go on a date with me?"
"No!"
"Sakura, do you want to eat lunch with me?"
"No!"
"Will you be my girlfriend, Sakura?"
"NO!"
"Hey Sakura, do-"
"How many times do I have to say no?"
"But-"
"Naruto…you're annoying."
The blond stared at her, for once saying nothing. Pink locks blown into her emerald eyes from the wind, Sakura glared in return. She ran off to find Sasuke. Naruto sat down on a bench. His eyes were wide, but he didn't cry.
He finally gave up.
Every day he came to training, with a bright smile and obnoxious things to say. He would argue with Kakashi-sensei and Sasuke, and try to impress Sakura. He never asked her out, though. For every day he asked her, which seemed like millions, there was now a day when he didn't.
But he still had a smile for her, every day.
One day, three years later, when they were fifteen, he did something entirely unexpected. Both had just finished a mission a couple days ago. Naruto found her sitting on a bench, looking rather bored.
"Sakura, you want to go to Ichiraku and get some lunch?" He inquired with a toothy grin. The obnoxious confidence had left his eyes for the most part, and was replaced with a sort of hopeful uncertainty. Sakura sighed, as if he had asked this five times yesterday (which he didn't, if you weren't paying attention). She saw how the look in his eye had changed.
"OK, sure."
Naruto gaped at her. "No way. Really?"
Look, do you want me to change my mind?"
"No! C'mon, let's go!" He cried joyfully.
He brought her to Ichiraku Ramen Shop. He allowed her to order whatever she wanted. Naruto chattered to her about training, what he had mastered and what he needed to work on. He carefully avoided the subject of Sasuke, figure he would say the wrong thing. Sakura awkwardly replied with short answers, and then carefully began to relax and speak more freely. After a while, she realized what a good time she was having. When they finished, he took out his frog-shaped wallet. Slowly, a frown slide across his face.
"Well, here, Mr. Ichiraku, that'll pay for hers." He said, handing all the cash he had. "Are there a lot of dishes?"
"Not too many." The man smiled and opened the door titled 'employees only' for Naruto. The spiky-haired boy gave him a weary grin in return and half trudged, half skipped in (if that's possible).
Sakura blinked as the door swung shut behind Naruto. Then she smiled and wrote down a note with a pen she borrowed from Ayame (I think that's the girl who works there's name…). Sakura walked off. She decided tomorrow she would help Naruto with his chakra control, since he had asked a few days ago (yeah, she had said no before. Can't you figure that out yourself?).
Naruto glanced down at the note.
"Thanks, Naruto. I had a great time.
-Sakura"
He gave a silly smile and slipped the note into his pocket.
a/n;; Here ya go, Kane-the-Warrior. I hope it wasn't too bad.
