A/N Well Guys, I wrote a couple of years ago and posted it on my deviantART account. Seeing as I finally have a fanfiction account I thought I'd post it here. Technically this is the first fanfic I ever wrote, but I forgot about it till I found it again. Oops :D
Disclaimer: I own nothing, not even a copy of the book.
She Never Forgot
She never forgot.
The adventures, the stories, the experiences, and all the things he forgot in his unchanging existence. But not her, she remembers them all.
Oh there were souvenirs. Keep sakes of the many trails and games, but to him they just exist, unimportant things that are there. He never questions why they came to be, just absorbing the mimicry skill, the sword fighting talent, the gain or loss of a new lost boy as if they were always there, commonplace and unimportant. But she knows the truth.
Watching him soar above the tree tops, among the clouds she recalls a fond time. Before the others, before his immortal appearance of a fourteen year old playful boy, when he still changed year after year, before growing into the child he is now, and forever will be.
Closing her eyes, she envisions his face, rounded with childish youth, when he was but 7 cycles. They had lain among the flowers, watching the fairies flitter above, calling for me to come and play with them. But she remained on the ground, saying it was unfair to him.
She remembers his smile as he turned to her, saying "Today Tink, I shall fly!" The other fairies laughed, doubting the statement, but she knew it would be true.
Together they set of to the highest point in Never land, ready for the challenge. Spying the edge, he ran full out; ready to fly, when she stopped him. She flew around him, allowing her dust to forever soak into this skin and shadow. She stopped by his ear and whispered "Close your eyes." And he did.
Smiling she lead him close to the edge but stopping him before he went over. "Think lovely wonderful thoughts." She coaxed. "Let them fill you, make you as light as a feather."
She took his finger and fluttered out past the edge, saying "Just think happy thought and trust me. Now jump." And he did.
From that day on, he put the birds to shame. The fairies laughed at there foolishness, never doubting the word of her best friend again.
The next day he forgot the adventure, as he always does, but he still flies.
So even though he never remembers, takes each day as it comes, she does not. Since they met, she can recall everyday, every second of his life. And she if glad of that, joyous that she will be the only one who will fully knows the life of Peter Pan.
