I do not own the characters in this story and if I did I would be making tv shows about them, not writing fanfiction
**why is fanfiction not in the auto correct dictionary?

First Patrol
It was a dark, dreary night in Gotham City. The ever present, grey clouds shielded the brightest stars from view. Although there was little natural light, one light out shined all others. The bat-signal was on, calling the caped crusader out from Gotham's darkest corners.
"Batman please!" Robin whined, stretching the 'e' until the boy had no air left in his lungs.
"No."
"But Batman…" Young Robin's eyes were beginning to fill with tears. Robin had now been living, no training, alongside the Batman for just over a year, though he had yet to officially patrol the dark streets of America's deadliest city.
"I train all day but I never get to go out at night." Robin stated, disappointment evident in his squeaky voice. Batman refused to acknowledge the boys pleas, not even lifting a finger to show he had heard Robin.
"I can run really fast," Robin proceeded to dash across the bat-cave, "and disappear into the shadows… just like you!" Robin exclaimed with glee after vanishing up into a dark alcove, climbing into the rafters, and dropping down on to Batman's broad shoulders. Batman slowly reached up, gently plucking the nine-year-old from his back, returning the boy to the ground. Robin ungracefully flopped on to the cold, stone ground of the cave, defeat evident in his body language. Batman, feeling as if he had finally won, began to approach the bat-mobile, his footsteps producing no sound, when he felt a surge of happiness radiate off his partner.
"Batman," Robin scoffed in a superior, smart tone.
"Yes, Robin?"
"Give me one good reason as to why I can't go."
"Do not use contractions. I said no." Truly, batman was afraid of losing Robin. He loved the boy dearly and simply wanted to protect him from the evils of the city. The boy had witnessed enough anguish and pain in his short lifetime; the Batman had no desire to bring on more. Batman opened the black, bulletproof door on the driver's side to the bat-mobile. As he was mechanically entering the great machine, suddenly, Robin leapt up into Batman's arms, ripping the domino mask off his small face.
"Please Batman." Robin practically whimpered, batting his blue orbs, filled with tears, peering into batman's hidden ones. There was a pause; the silence was tangible.
"Get in the car."
