The two of them were alone, no one was anywhere in site.
"Sora and Kairi are out again aren't they?" One of the two young voices piped up after they had say there in silence for a long while.
"Yeah," The other replied, his voice low with disappointment. He hung his head low as his hair blocked his face.
"When was the last time they really talked to you?" the other one asked.
"Sora and I haven't had a real conversation since…" The boy stopped and flicked some hair out of his face. He closed his eyes in disappointment. "We haven't had any heart to heart conversations since we were kids, before Kairi came around."
"You miss those days don't you…?" the other boy questioned softly. The two boys sat near a tree on a small island. One was up in the tree with one leg hanging lazily over the side, the other leg bent up on the tree. He looked out into the sea. The other boy leaned against the base of curved tree.
"Yeah," The one in the tree spoke up once more, his voice still sad. "I miss the days when nothing could stand between us."
"Guess Kairi stood in between that," the other boy continued.
"You're right," the other said as he looked at the water, "Sora let go of me even though I tried not to let go of him. He didn't take my hand ever again. I tried to prove that I was always better than he was after she came. I hoped that maybe if she directed her attention at me Sora would have to do the same."
"Guess that didn't work…"
"It didn't," it looked as if the boy in the tree would cry.
"Hey, come on! Don't be like that." The other boy turned to face the one in the tree, "You need to look on the bright side—you have me for a friend. Life lives on, and you need to keep up with it to live. If you keep in the past, life passes you by."
The boy in the tree laughed, "You get that from a fortune cookie Roxas?"
"Well it made yah smile right Riku?" Roxas replied.
"You're right," Riku jumped down and stood upright above Roxas, "I need to keep up with life. If Sora doesn't want to turn around to see if all of his friends are keeping up that's fine."
"I'm still here for yah buddy," Roxas smiled. He stood up tall and whispered into Riku's ear, "Do you still love him?"
Riku looked shocked, then whispered back, "No, I found someone else."
Riku winked at Roxas. Roxas pointed at himself and then blushed. Roxas jumped up and kissed Riku's cheek. Riku blushed too. Both walked along the bridge back to the main island, hand in hand, side by side.
