Author's note: okay, this is like, my first fanfic for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, so please forgive me if it's not too good. Constructive criticism needed. ^^
PS. I don't own Percy Jackson and the Olympians, nor any of the characters in it. ^^
PPS. The appearance and even the personality of the gods might be slightly different from the original series, so be prepared.
Prologue: Dilemma of the Gods
A brilliant cascade of ruby curls tumbled down onto the marble floor. The woman sighed as she stared at her mirror, absentmindedly brushing her hair with an ivory hand of jewels.
"Zeus, darling. What should we do about the Titans and their demonic allies?" she asked without glancing at her husband. "You know we will regret it if we leave them alone."
A muscular man with bright-gold hair and beard heaved out a sigh. "I know, Hera. Every god in Olympus knows that."
Hera smiled sympathetically, a rare sight for anyone to see. "The weight of your responsibility is indeed great, dearest."
Zeus exhaled. "Typhon has risen from the dead and Father has been awakened. It won't be long before Grandmother decides that it is time to make her entrance herself."
Hera scowled and snapped, "I would rather you not refer to them as our parent and grandparents, dearest. They are only a bunch of hot-headed barbarians that use their power to threaten the world."
Zeus paced back and forth restlessly. "We must do something. We cannot waste any time whatsoever."
Hera groaned inwardly. Her husband was so uptight! No matter what the situation, Hera decided he needed some loosening up.
She rose from her chair and glided towards the colossal bed, sinking into the soft, welcoming blankets and pillows.
"It's late, dearest," she murmured, smiling crookedly. "Turn off the lights when you come to bed."
Zeus paused, his mind wavering. "Hera..."
"Come to bed, please," she coaxed. "We will hold an emergency meeting at sunrise tomorrow."
With a defeated sigh, the King of the Gods reluctantly approached to the comforting pillows and blankets. Gingerly, he settled himself next to his wife, who smiled brightly.
"No matter what happens, dearest," she murmured into the darkness. "I will stand by you forever...as your ally, your sibling, and your beloved."
And, in spite of everything, Zeus smiled.
Okay, sorry I made this a little mushy. ^^ I know Hera is really sassy in the books, but I really wanted to make this a touching scene.
Pwease review! ^0^
