Here is Gone
Prologue
May 2003
Hunter Hearst Helmsley looked at the small package on his doorstep with only mild interest. Personally, in the two and some half years since his life had gone to hell, he really didn't care about much of anything. Most of what he cared about was booze and the night that took away what mattered most to him: His career and his wife.
He took the package and hobbled over to his couch, a bottle of beer unopened on the table. He'd been about to start it when the door bell rang, and whomever it was left the package on his doorstep. It was around 9 am in the morning, but it was rare that he was up that early these days and even rarer that he wasn't half drunk or hungover that early. That morning was the first time in a long while that Triple H was clear sober and he was determined not to remain that way.
First though, he wanted to see what was in the package that was left to him. He opened it to find a small answering machine tape, a tape recorder, and a plane ticket with a note that a WCW show would be taking place in the city on the ticket that day. Half tempted to tear both ticket and note to bits, he popped the tape into the recorder and popped open the beer.
The drink remained untouched as Hunter hopped up from his couch with more fire and anger than he'd felt in almost three years. Heading towards the bathroom to clean himself up Triple H resolved to get a cab to the airport and head towards the arena where WCW was at so he could confront his so - called friends about their obvious duplicity in the event that changed his life forever.
The night that most of the people in the WWF, including his wife were brutally murdered, himself crippled for life and his 'friends' framing Vincent K. McMahon for the tragedy and sending Vince to death row.
