The dark night was desperately cold and as Ronnie Mitchell stood arm to arm with Stacey Slater in front of the exact spot where she had lost her beloved daughter exactly a year ago today, a sudden revelation flooded through her head. Though her confused and highly emotional mind could not process anything properly on this horrible day, she suddenly realised just how much Danielle connected both her and Stacey. And as Ronnie's eyes swivelled in her head as she tried to fight back against the tears, she caught sight of the soft bump concealed beneath Stacey's trembling hands. A young girl, who was soon to become a full time mother with no boyfriend or husband to help her through it all, was standing right beside her and she felt it was her position to help her as much as she could. She took Stacey's hand to warm it up, though her own was shaking uncontrollably and tried to process these thoughts into words. And yet she knew that what she was about to say would make every bit of sense to Stacey.
"Don't make the same mistakes I did."
Stacey had no idea how to reply but she knew what Ronnie meant. This tough Mitchell girl's emotions had been sent spiralling in the last couple of years and yet Stacey admired the fact that she had enough strength to help her through this difficult time. A solitary tear escaped from Stacey's left eye straight on to the pavement as she thought about it all but as it did, she gave a smile to Ronnie which reflected her gratitude. Ronnie returned the smile and both Stacey and Ronnie's minds connected. At the exact same moment, both girls lay their bouquets of flowers down against the mossy, damp wall, both bought from Jean Slater's market stall and turned away to walk into the darkness together. But even as they walked away from this emotional spot, the cries of Danielle as she was hit by Janine Butcher's car and the sobs of witnesses as Ronnie exclaimed that her only daughter was dead, echoed through their ears and sent tears falling from both girls' eyes…
