A/N: It's just another little scene I came up with when I lied in bed one evening. I'd be very happy if you reviewed ^_^

"What if... If I don't come back?"
Aang was scared, Katara could hear it. And she could understand. Because she was even more worried about that. Her best friend was only twelve! Twelve years old and fighting in a war. He was the one who could stop it, but he doubted it in some way. Katara quickly thought about what she could say to motivate him. When she had found some words and the idea of giving him an encouraging hug...
"Don't say that! Of course you'll-"
There it was; the kiss that had been in Aang's mind for so long. She made a very, very quiet noise he loved to hear.
"Mmhm".
He leaned forward and lightly pressed his lips against hers; closing his eyes. It felt amazing. He was finally kissing the lips he loved so much, the lips that opened to say wonderful words when he was down. He felt a slight reaction, Katara leaned a bit against him. But she did nothing else.
When he stepped back after something like five seconds, he looked up to her and saw the blush on her cheeks.
She opened her eyes and looked aside. He waited a moment for her to say something, but when nothing came, he took the initiative.
"Katara?"
She looked at him with sad and apologising eyes. Did that mean anything bad?
"Uhm... I-"
"You should go now. The invasion's about to start, Aang."
And so he opened his glider and ignored the desire to stay with her because he knew she was right.
