Absolute Beginners
Faith looked right and left; the hall was empty. Mom wasn't home and this was her best chance.
She knocked on her neighbour's door. The old lady greeted her with a kiss and a hug, smiling pleasantly when the girl tugged away and ran to the corner.
Faith clapped gleefully. They were so big! Furrier and fuzzier than she remembered too. And they had opened their eyes already!
Six pairs of eyes stared at her curiously and Faith grinned. She unclasped her charm bracelet and jiggled it heartily.
She laughed delightfully when the kittens jumped clumsily after the odd noise.
