She just wanted to get back to her dorm room. After that awful detention with Filch, she never wanted to gaze upon those ridiculous school trophies ever again. Filch had made her polish every single one. The reason she had detention in the first place was not even her fault. She was just trying to stop Potter from messing with Snape and with of her luck, she ended up in the middle and gets knocked into Filch's broom closet destroying the door.
The worst part was that she missed the muggle born meeting this week. It was in that room Alice showed her the Room of Requirement. Benji had just configured a get magical radio to receive the regular British stations last week. So she missed out on listening to The Rolling Stones. But maybe if she booked it, she could catch the end of the meeting. Lily started walking towards the seventh floor and the tapestry of Barnabas the barmy, when she heard footsteps behind her.
Not one set, but four sets of footsteps. With her luck, it would be those annoying Marauders. Lily turned around and didn't notice anyone, but she knew that Potter had a way of getting around unnoticed. Lily still remembered the random tugs on her ponytail that came out of nowhere when she was a second year and no hint of anyone around. Lily just picked up her speed and started to hurry to the room on the third floor. But she tried to do it subtly. The footsteps appeared to get faster too.
Lily thought of a great idea. So she started sprinting. As she turned the corridor, she abruptly stopped. She didn't realize that by her stopping right in front of them, she would end up with four guys crashing into her. In hindsight, it probably wasn't that bright of an idea.
As Lily stood up, she grabbed their invisibility cloak to reveal Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Sirius Black, and James Potter. She just glared down at them. "What are you doing?" She yelled at them.
"Would you believe we were following you to check that you were safe?" Remus asked with a sheepish smile.
"We were?" Peter asked.
Lily just groaned and shook her head. She dropped the weird cloak and turned to walk away.
James jumped to his feet and grabbed her arm to keep there. The other three scrambled to their feet. Peter fell on his bum twice before actually getting his feet under him. Lily just rolled her eyes and tried to shake off James' arm.
"Would you believe we were pulling a prank?" Sirius said and then he lifted his hand over his heart, "Scout's honor."
"What do you know about being a boy scout?" Remus asked.
"I'd eat my left arm if you can prove you were ever a boy scout," Lily mumbled. She tried to ignore the fact that the four fell into step with her.
"Why are you still following me?" Lily said as they continued to walk with her.
"Why wouldn't we follow you?" James said with his trademark smirk.
"Ok let's get this demand straight once and for all: I want you to leave me alone and stop talking to me," Lily said.
Remus nudged James' ribs with his forearm. "That was two demands," James said, smiling as he caught on.
"The second one was included in the first." She said.
"But that doesn't change the fact that there were two commands listed. You know me, Lily, I can't follow two rules at once." James said as he threw his arm over her shoulder.
They were just nearing the room. Lily saw Mary leaving the room and quickly smacked James' hand away. She begged Mary with her eyes.
Lily groaned, she glanced at her watch. "It's nine in the afternoon and your eyes are the size of the moon!" Lily said annoyed.
"That's a nice one Lily! We should totally use that in the future." Mary said.
"What are you birds talking about?" Sirius asked.
"But it's not even a full moon, so is James squinting?" Peter asked and turned to stare at James. James immediately made a face and started squinting and scrunching up his nose.
"I guess, maybe it's a new compliment, I mean what else could it be, Lily said it to me," James said while running his hand through his hair.
"No, Peter, I think it's from a song, but I can't remember," Remus said.
"Oi! One of those muggle songs right? I always blast 'em from my room. It never fails to piss mum off." Sirius said.
"Where do you get muggle songs?" Peter asked.
"I nicked 'em from the muggle shops," Sirius said with a smirk.
"No way, you couldn't even swipe something from Zonko's," James said.
"Yeah, but Zonko's is a wizarding joint. They have superior security." Sirius said.
"Are you suggesting that wizards are actually better than muggles?" Remus asked as he raised an eyebrow, Sirius was constantly exclaiming on the genius of muggles.
Sirius blanched, "'Course not, I would never. Muggles are right intelligent, haven't you seen one of those motorbikes?" Sirius asked.
Lily and Mary quietly slid away from the group. "You know Mary, you're right, it would be a perfect insult. Especially since no one other than us knows what it means." Lily said with a conspiratorial wink at Mary. Mary threw her arm around Lily's shoulders and they walked away from the still arguing boys.
"Wait Lily!" James yelled when he saw Lily was already turning at the end of the corridor.

This is based off a post on Tumblr of a muggle born head cannon. I felt inspired so I wrote a short fic about it, and Lily and the Marauders just kinda popped up in it. The post is below.
no but imagine a muggle born at Hogwarts being harassed and they turn around and blurt out, 'shut up it's 9 in the afternoon and your eyes are the size of the moon.'
after that all the muggle-born in the vicinity picked it up and started using it as an insult
the purebloods are just so. confused.

This is an updated version, before I don't think it made any sense. I don't think it makes sense now but at least it is better.
