Rodney worked on his analysis of M7G-677's electromagnetic shield. He knew the ZPM wouldn't last, but he never expected it to happen so soon.
And as much as he wanted to take care of the problem, he wanted nothing more to be back home on Atlantis. He was still ticked that Woolsey had given the order to destroy the Attero device along with Janus' base there. The only one who seemed to understand was Jennifer who was equally frustrated with the IOA's decision to keep moving forward with the Retrovirus. She had told him what Todd said, and that she was conflicted about what to do.
They were spending more time together and his confidence was building. He had fallen for her, and he was on the lookout for the right moment to ask her out on a real date. Maybe he would drop by with a fruit cup on her shift again.
"Jennifer is worried about you," Rodney had been ignoring them until he heard Teyla say her name.
"I'm fine," Ronan said rigidly.
"So Keller turned you down. She's turned everyone down," John tried to cheer him up. It certainly boosted Rodney's spirit.
"Do not let it discourage you, Ronan. Jennifer does not want a relationship. She has said so on many occasions," Rodney could hear the sympathy in Teyla's voice but it didn't lessen the blow.
They continued talking, but he decided to finish his work. He did his best to focus, but Teyla's words kept repeating in his head.
Later back on Atlantis, he gave up the idea of taking her a fruit cup. Instead, she had brought one to him in his lab.
