Disclaimer: I do not own Man of Steel.

Note: I think Superman would be called for a hearing in the sequel just my opinion so I conjured this up. Its not beta'd so please be kind.

All the cameras were on him, at least one news network from half the nations on the planet. It was a big deal, the discovery of alien life. For centuries mankind has wondered whether they were alone in this vast, dark universe just last week they got their heinous answer. Dru-Zod, the military leader of the planet Krypton intent on resurrecting a dead world on Earth at the expense of the natives already living here.

''What do we call you?'' asked Senator Castle, formerly mayor of Gotham City. From what Clark understood, he didn't like vigilantes especially some urban legend dubbed ''Batman'' whose struck fear into the hearts of criminals in that city just a hundred miles north of Metropolis.

''Superman is fine,'' replied Clark sitting in front of the packed room. General Swanwick sat behind him, the military man had begun to trust the alien ever since saving the Earth from his own people initially skeptical of the Kryptonian. Lois and a team of reporters from the daily planet sat on the other side of the room.

''This Zod was intent on wiping out humanity, how do you explain that?'' asked Congresswoman Sara West, once Councilwoman from Central City.

''Zod was the leader of the planetwide military force, he was just as much of a criminal on my world as he was on this planet, he was sentenced to a prison dimension called the Phantom Zone for trying to overthrow the ruling body of Krypton.'' Clark explained.

''How do you we know you wouldn't do the same thing one day?'' exclaimed Senator Godfrey, once radio host in Metropolis. He glared at Clark with distrust.

''Because sir I only know Earth, my parents gave their lives to send me to this world days after my birth. Krypton was a dying world caused by our own hubris most of the populace was engineered for a specific role in our society, my parents were scientists, Zod and his crew were soldiers. I was the first of my people to be born naturally in many centuries, I love this world and its people.'' Clark retorted passionately. ''Besides I'm now the member of a critically endangered species, this has been my home since I was a baby.''

The Senators looked at one another, in time they would see if Superman could truly be trusted but many were keen on keeping an eye on the immigrant from the stars.
