A Very Harry Christmas

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house

Not a creature was stirring, not even a house elf.

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,

In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of chocolate frogs danced in their heads.

With Ginny in her nightgown, I finished my nightcap,

And had just settled down for a long winter's nap-

When in the living room there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Clutching my wand I flew like a flash,

Hermione did our wards; they shouldn't be trash.

As I drew my wand, and was turning around,

Through the fireplace St. Nicholas came with a bound:

He was dressed in fur robes, from his head to his foot,

And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;

A bundle of toys was flung on his back,

'There must be an undetectable extension charm on his pack!'

His eyes - how they twinkled, just like Dumbledore's,

I wondered how Ginny continued her snores…

His mouth looked as though it had never seen a scowl,

And the beard of his chin was as white as my (old) owl.

A time turner loosely encircled his neck,

'So that's how he accomplished this arduous trek.'

He had a broad face, and a little round belly,

That shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly.

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,

And I laughed when I saw him in spite of myself.

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head

Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word, but his wand gave a jerk,

The stockings filled up; he was finished his work

And tossing some floo powder into the fire

And giving a nod, walked into the pyre.

But I heard him exclaim, as he disappeared from sight-

Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

A/N

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope the holidays are good to you all.

Have a lovely outtake:

He had a broad face and a belly like Hagrid

That wobbled when he laughed, like the giant squid

Yup.
