Soldier
I don't own Snk. But I do love the story :)
One stable foot in front, then the other. Continuously Mikasa trudged defiantly, stopping only at her destination. There was no knocking. She barged straight in and her short black hair danced on her face as she came to a sudden stop.
"What is this about!?"
Even a blind person could see the anger in Mikasa's voice at that moment. She was furious, fists clenching, skin pulsing. Anyone would be petrified of her. Anyone but Levi.
Nonchalantly, he responded.
"It was orders. Ackerman. Orders. Follow them, or your out." In all honesty Levi's serene facade in itself had answered her question. But she wasn't satisfied. No decent soldier would be, in her books at least.
"I can still fight, this.." Mikasa motioned to her bandaged wrist, "-this is nothing. I have to be out there, Levi." The last part of her speech made the corporal twitch. 'I have to be out there.' He recalled the same sentence once coming out of his own mouth.
When long silence engulfed the room, Mikasa tried again.
"Levi, help me, please." He could see the young girl - woman - on the verge of tears. But there was nothing he could do. Orders were orders; they were soldiers. There was no alternative and the she needed to know that.
At last the short man responded: he left his seat passing the taller female and patted her soft shining locks.
"That's Corporal Levi to you."
And then he left.
There was no promises. No vows to come back alive - to protect her brother, to prevent the end of the world.
He was a soldier going out into the world he couldn't control.
Hope you guys enjoyed that. It was one of the quickest fics I've ever written, so let me know if there were any mistakes. See ya :)
