Kinetic Energy
Ginny woke in the middle of the night with an oppressive sense of dread crushing her chest. She sat up quickly, pushing her bedcovers to the floor. She grasped her throat and tried to breathe. Something wasn't right. She slid to the edge of her bed and pressed her feet against the cold, bare floor.
The war was getting worse. And, it was getting closer. She could feel it. She pushed herself into a standing position and began pacing the floor. She wouldn't feel so frantic all the time if she knew where Harry was. It was hard enough that she still loved him and had no idea how he was doing. But wherever he was, her brother and her friend were too. The realization that she could lose all three of them in one fell swoop was a constant heartache.
She tried to be strong, especially in front of her friends. But the continual fear she felt swirled around her. It was like being in the middle of a hurricane. It was if an energy, a kinetic energy, was coming off each evil act and forcing her into turmoil. She could feel the pain, fear, and anger swirling around her at all times.
Her world was already crumbling down around her. But she knew that this was just the beginning. This wasn't the first time she had woken up in physical pain, and it wouldn't be the last.
