Everyone was present: Naminé, Kairi, Axel, Riku, Demyx, Zexion, Sora…and me. We were all just hanging out at first like any other night. But then Kairi just had to suggest that we play spin the bottle. And of course the others just had to agree.
I really hated my friends sometimes.
And so that's how I found myself sitting in a circle with an empty glass bottle in the middle.
"Why are we doing this?" I wondered. "This is meant to be a big party game. There's only eight of us, though. It's gonna end up being a short game."
Riku shrugged. "So what?"
"All right, who wants to go first?" Demyx then questioned.
"Why don't you go first?" Kairi suggested.
"Fine," he gave in, not bothering to argue back.
He got up to spin the bottle in the center of the circle. Then he stayed there as he waited for it to stop. When it finally did, it had landed on Zexion.
"Go to him, Zex," Riku said, laughing.
"Shut up," the indigo haired teen replied. He then joined Demyx in the center. "Let's just get this over with," he thought aloud, though he was blushing.
Demyx nodded. "As you wish."
They leaned into each other and kissed. Zexion quickly retreated, blushing even deeper. The mullet haired teen laughed at this. Then they both returned to their spots.
"I'll go next," Sora volunteered.
He went through the same process and ended up having to kiss Kairi. Then Naminé took her turn and had to kiss Riku. That left only Axel. Shit. Of course I would be stuck with my crush.
"All right Roxas," Naminé said, "it's you and Axel."
"This should be interesting," Riku replied.
"Shut up!" I said back. I sighed. "Do I really have to do this? I mean, I was kinda hoping to have my first kiss in a more romantic setting. Not spin the frigging bottle."
"They won't watch, then," Axel told me.
"We won't?" Sora questioned.
"No, you won't," he confirmed.
"Yes, we'll turn around," Zexion decided. He turned his back on Axel and me. The others followed suit. "Just tell us when you're all set."
Axel moved closer to me. I was looking down; I could feel my face turning as red as his spiky hair.
"This is embarrassing," I admitted, only loud enough for Axel to hear.
"Don't worry about them," he said back. He closed the distance between us and placed a finger under my chin, lifting my head to reach his gaze. "Right now it's only you and me."
I smiled shyly at this.
And then he kissed me. It was a gentle kiss that only lasted about four seconds, but that didn't matter to me. It had been the perfect first kiss.
"Well?" he whispered.
I smiled again, but this time with more confidence. "Why didn't we play this game sooner?"
He laughed and moved away from me. "Okay guys, you can turn back around."
"Well Roxas," Kairi started, smiling giddily, "how was your first kiss?"
I shrugged, still smiling. "Sorry Kairi," I looked to Axel, who winked at me, "but I don't kiss and tell."
