AU. FF7 - CloudxZack OneShot | Fluff |
A/N: This is a random drabble/oneshot idea that I literally just pulled out of the top of my head. May be OOC, but I hope you enjoy it!

There was something about him that made Cloud tick, but that was not necessarily a good or bad thing. It was in the middle. Somewhere between wanting to strangle him, and wanting to just stare at him with dewy eyes... and wonder just how lucky he was. How completely out of character for him. But, Zack was important to Cloud, whether or not he openly voiced it. Whether he kept it inside and continued to be unable to exactly process just what that meant.

Waking up, he saw Zack still fast asleep, hair haphazardly falling over the opposite pillow, and his mouth wide open. Drool was dried on his cheek, on the pillow, but it was so picturesque, that Cloud couldn't help but stare. How would Zack react to knowing that he snored? How had anyone he had ever slept with {in any meaning} dealt with such a loud noise? Cloud was a light sleeper himself, but, he supposed that he was used to it by now. He was used to the many sounds, actions, quirks and pros that came with Zack.

After all, he had been with the man for most of his life now. He spent the majority of his day next to Zack. Why was he not sick of him by now? Oh... right.

Cloud rolled onto his back and stretched his arms above his head, only to be stopped by the headboard against the wall. A groan fell from his lips, and he squinted. He'd not noticed how bright the sun was until then, nor that the curtain had been left open, normally closed to prevent the light from penetrating. Not that he minded, he probably was the one that made the mistake of leaving it open.

He decided on a shower. Zack would most likely sleep another hour or so... seeing as how it wasn't noon just yet, and that was usually the normal routine for a man like him. When he wasn't at work, of course. It was exactly why Zack prefered to work the evening shift, versus the morning shift. Cloud did too... but that was because it worked better for them. Since they lived together. Since Cloud had the motorcycle that actually worked. Since... they...

When the water hit his face, he turned it almost completely cold. Slightly lukewarm water, but barely. Cloud could get away with such low temperature waters while Zack was asleep. Zack... who liked to use all the hot water in one shower - which if Cloud had waited for Zack to wake up and take one... he would have needed to wait an hour before the hot water was even back. He sighed heavily, closing his eyes, letting the water slide over his neck, and chest, anywhere else.

It didn't take entirely too long. Cloud stepped out of the shower, dried his hair with the nearest towel, and stared at himself in the mirror. In the background, he could have sworn he heard Zack roaming around the apartment, but tuning into it, stopping his current actions, he shrugged. Nothing. So, Cloud continued his morning routine. A white shirt, a pair shorts... and nothing further until he ate something.

Maybe he could convince Zack to go for a jog later. It had been a good while since they had done anything like that.

Cloud shook his head. He could almost hear the competitive challenges that would most likely ensue in such a together activity.

So lost in his thoughts, he did not expect to see a shirtless, smiling Zack standing in the kitchen, at the toaster when he walked in. Zack rubbed the side of his cheek, muttered something about needing a shave, and then leaned back until his bottom was touching the counter. Cloud pressed his lips together, but seeing Zack in the kitchen, that goofy ass grin, made him push back the comment he held in his head about that being unsanitary.

"Do you want some toast?"

Cloud grinned, "Sure."
