*Warning Major Character death!

Gibbs stared at the body in front of him. He had come too late. Too late to save one of his own. Dinozzo, for once was silent. Ziva shed a tear for her fallen friend. Abby would kill him when he got back. He should have listened to what Tim had said over the comms. If he had then, just maybe he could've saved his man. Why he didn't listen to his gut this time he would never know! He could feel his heart breaking. Nothing in life could prepare you for the moment when you find the body of a man you had trained for years and then know that you could've stopped this. If only you had listened.
Tim's body lay twisted under Tony's jacket. He couldn't leave him open and exposed to the world. Tony knew he would never have another probie like Tim. He had been so cruel at times. He had played a fairly mean prank this morning and now he couldn't take it back. It was too late to go out for that drink, or to spend the night watching movies. He couldn't think of any quote to lighten the mood, he didn't try.
"Boss…"
"We have to call it in Dinozzo."
The conversation was cold. Cold like Tim. The scumbag who had broken Tim lay unconscious with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Before he had pushed Tim off the building, Tim had shot him. It's like Tim knew the guy wouldn't stop at him and would've hurt the others if he had gotten the chance. So he had saved them. One last time.
Ziva couldn't bring herself to think of Tim whilst she kept alive the man who killed him. She would bring him to justice. Why didn't she come quicker when Tim cried for help? She would never forgive herself for her beloved friend's death.
They were all just too late.
Tim watched his friends cry for him. He knew that one day they would be okay again. Just like after Kate. Kate was waiting for him. Tim turned to her.
"I'm sorry Kate; it was me who was supposed to be shot. Not you."
"You've always kind of blamed yourself haven't you?"
"In a way, yes."
"You shouldn't have. I don't blame. It's time to go now Tim."
Tim took one last look at his friends and took Kate's hand as she led him away.
