How Ares Became Number One
In the arena of the Ravens, 50 bold AC pilots would pit their strength in the Arena, causing many deaths and hundreds of casualties. The number 1 would be known as the Nine Breaker.
Every now and then, the number 2 ranking pilot would challenge this legendary pilot in hope of acquiring the legendary title, often in vain. The first Nine Breaker pilot, Vince, held the title for the first few years. On the 1st of November, a brave pilot named Ares challenged Vince in the Arena. At first, Ares was afraid of Vince. Later, he gathered his courage and entered the Etal Base Arena in his agile Nine Breaker II.
Darkness covered the Arena, causing vision to become almost absolute zero. Fortunately, Ares had equipped a night-vision part, which he had found in one of his earlier missions. His radar picked up a fast moving object heading towards his position. As his chain-gun locked on onto Vince, the Nine Breaker had fired pursuit missiles at Ares.
As the missiles came closer, he powered up his ZCL-XA/2 overhead boosters and blasted into the towers around the Nine Breaker. He quickly fired his chain-gun and moved his unlike-humanoid legs to the warehouses. Swapping his chain-gun for his grenade-launcher, he charged forwards. His Nine Breaker II suddenly had a FCS error and Ares quickly backed off. Vince, noticing the cease of fire, spotted Ares and fired another pursuit missile. His core took massive damage but stood firm. He quickly loaded his massive grenade-launcher and fired. His recoil shock made him fly across the base.
His unguided fireball hit Vince right on the core, causing him to have and energy shortage. Seeing his chance, the Nine Breaker II rapidly fired at the Nine Breaker with its chain-gun. The continuous hit and the fact that Vince's AC could not move allowed Ares to finish the Nine Breaker with a powerful beam wave.
Now, with Vince's defeat, Ares could rule the Arena. Also, Ares learnt to finish his opponent with rapid hits.
