Chronos was amazing. A beautiful place where its citizens were cared for wonderfully and everyone flourished in the riches of the elite. It was a place where no one looked up from their e-books and away from their studies. A place where the only thing that truly mattered was who had the highest marks.
All my life I had followed in that day to day cycle. A simple process of waking up, eating as required, learning as much as I could, then going to sleep. It was the cycle any sixteen year old had in Chronos.
I followed it until the day I was bumped. I had never seen a stranger like him. Dark hair, silver eyes, the grace of a dancer as he stood and walked away. He never seemed to lose focus on whoever or whatever he was following.
For once, I had lost my focus. I looked up, watched him walk away then looked at the sky. Had it always been so blue? The clouds so white?
The simple bump of two people not paying enough attention while walking changed my life. For the first time, I saw the flowers. Vibrant and beautiful. The grass was green, coffee smelled amazing, the birds sang notes I never heard before.
For sixteen years, I had missed this? How had that been possible? I left my items on the ground, my bag, my e-books, my notebooks.
How could I have ever missed this?
