A/N: Okaaayy, so this is my first fic. Please be gentle.

Disclaimer: I don't own anything Harry Potter related, which in this story is only the train. JK Rowling can have the train.

Not Meant to Be

I'm looking for a compartment when my eyes meet yours. You're sitting with your friends, but seeing as this is the only compartment that still has seats, I join anyway. I timidly take the seat across from you, but you don't seem to notice that I'm there.

I find myself staring at you, taking in your eyes, your nose, your smile.

I hear the compartment door click shut as your friends leave, and I realize we're alone.

I chance a glance at you, and find you looking back. You smile at me then, and I swear if I was standing up I would have hit the floor.

Instead of smiling back, I just look away. We sit there in silence for what seems like forever, until suddenly, I hear the train's brakes come to life.

I hear you stand up, so I look over, but you're suddenly right in front of me. You kneel down and place a hand on my shoulder.

"Are you okay?" you ask me.

"No," I want to say. I want to just forget everything and press my lips to yours, but I don't. Instead, I just nod and smile. You smile back, although I still see some doubt in your eyes. That doubt quickly disappears however as you walk away to meet up with your friends.

"I love you," I whisper under my breath, my gaze never leaving you.

Maybe it's not meant to be.

A/N: Okay so I changed my mind. I want to know. Does it suck? Is it good? Just tell me. I wrote it while I was sick, so I can't expect much. If you find any grammar mistakes, please tell me. It would help.
