She loved the way he took care of her. Even when she was to drunk to thank him, she knew what he was doing. And she was grateful. As he tucked her into the soft bed, she focused on his touch. So soft, so tender, so caring. He cared. The others would rather stuff her in a corner and forget about her. But he was always there. She was going through a tough time, and he'd always been right beside her.
He would sit beside her, watching her breathing even as she slept it off, sobered up. Sometimes he would knit. But sometimes he would just watch her sleeping, and wonder if she was dreaming. He didn't know it, but she was. Dreaming of wonderful things. Sometimes of him. Whenever she seemed worse, he was worried and scared. She could see it on his face. But whenever she seemed happy she saw the grin on his face spread ten times as wide as normal.
As he tucked her in one night, she said something. 'I love –hic- you.'
Dobby smiled. 'I love you too, Winky.' He hugged her gently and settled on his chair, knowing that this time she'd be dreaming of him.
