I don't own any of the characters in this story, except the minling. Some situations have no evidence in the Harry Potter books. I've tried to keep to the knowledge of what we do know about James Potter and added a little of my own twist to it. Please review, and remember that this is my first fic, so please don't flame me!

Prongs
The silver stag looked down at the fiile of children heading to their Care of Magical Creatures class. He singled out one in particular; his own son, Harry Potter.
For, you see, the stag was really the wizard James Potter, or at least he had been in the Physical World. He had been killed years ago by the Dark Lord Voldemort. He now existed as a Patronus, or guardian, of his son Harry. Harry had managed to survive Voldemort's attack out of his mother's love.
When James had been a student at Hogwarts, his three best friends and himself had each had a nicknames, and three were unregistered Animaguses, or wizards who could turn into animals. James' nickname had been Prongs, as he always transformed into a stag. He was now finally able to fulfill his fatherly duty of protecting his child.
Harry could call on him when he was in peril by saying a simple incantation: "Expecto Patronum". A silver stag, none other than James himself, would appear out of the end of Harry's wand. Harry had finally realized that the stag was, in a sense, his father. The Patronus varies with the wizard who summons it.
And Harry realized that my dear friend Sirius would never betray me, thought James, or Prongs as he was usually called now, as he watched Hagrid, the Care of Magical Creatures teacher lead a creature called a minling out into the fenced area. The children oohed and aahed as Hagrid let them atroke the beautiful creature. The minling resembled a unicorn, except that it's mane, tail, and horn were pure gold and the air around it seemed to shimmer. James smiled inwardly as he watched Harry's delighted face. Minlings had that air about them that made everyone around them deliriously happy.
James turned and saw his wife Lily approaching, the silvery glow around her making her even more beautiful than she was when she was alive. They both watched the children in silence for awhile. Then, breaking the silence, Lily said softly, "Come on, honey, let's go home."

Well, what did you think? Do you want me to make a "Prongs" series? I thought it was a sappy ending myself, but I couldn't think of anything else. So please, review!
