Choose a number, get a pairing! – Zoe and Clarisse
A Role Model
When she had been younger, Clarisse remembered seeing a girl outside her bedroom window when it had been very late at night but she was not able to fall asleep.
She could only make out vague details of the other girl's features. The girl had looked young and had an aura of royalty around her that did not need light to be felt. Her hair had been so dark that it had almost blended in with the darkness of the shadows she flittered within. She looked tall but was short when compared to the monster she was facing.
Clarisse could make out the shape of a bow on her back and the glint of light that reflected off back towards her told Clarisse that the girl had a pair of what looked like long knives in her hands. She moved with a speed Clarisse had never seen before and left her staring in awe at the other girl. It was not long before the monster exploded into ash. Clarisse blinked for a second and the girl had disappeared into the shadows.
It had been before she had found out that she was a demigod and her mother had dismissed her story as a dream that was merely vivid.
When she had first went to Camp Halfblood, she had still had that memory of that girl in her mind. It had been that thought that made her train as hard as she could to get to the speed and precision the girl she had watched through her window had managed to perfect. She had been the first female fighter Clarisse had seen and she wanted to be at least a fraction of as good as the other girl had been.
She never saw the older girl again but whenever she thought of her, Clarisse always remembered the explosion of that monster while the girl's figure stood breathing slightly heavier than normal, but triumphant.
