Spy for two of the greatest wizards of all time? Of course he had a back-up plan. Which is exactly what he told Harry after showing up at the end of the Final Battle, miraculously alive. He wasn't fool enough to be around a poisonous snake for three years and not have an anti-venom already made. However, he had stayed out of the sight of the public eye as much as possible. Severus liked his solitude, and only one person was allowed to breach that. Said person was currently sitting on the floor, leaning against Severus' knees and reading the Daily Prophet.
"Why do you read that rubbish?" Severus inquired with no small amount of derision, lips curling downward as he glanced at the paper in his lover's hand.
"Sometimes they speculate on what happened to you. Things you were seen doing. Did you know that visit you made to Diagon Alley for potions' ingredients made front-line news? They're calling it 'Snape Sightings'." The black-haired boy chuckled heartily.
Severus just shook his head and tore the newsprint from the man's hands.
"Hey! I was reading that-" Harry started to complain, but Severus pulled him up to sit on his lap, and Harry's complaints died on his lips as Severus kissed him soundly. Their lips met for almost a minute before Severus pulled away. Harry looked slightly dazed, and Severus smirked.
"Harry. Are you... happy, keeping this... us... a secret forever?" Severus asked, suddenly serious, a frown creasing his brows.
"I've told you, Severus. I am ready for anything that the world has in store for us. My friends will understand. They know I visit you, and they accept it. They simply don't know the exact... nature of our relationship. Hermione respects you, and Ron can get over it. I love you, Severus Snape. And I always will." Harry's green eyes met Severus' intently.
"I love you, Harry."
