So…it's two in the morning with school canceled for the second day in the row (love snow!). Might as well post this short little thing.
Disclaimer: sleep-deprived me says NOT MINE!
Never Halfway
It was February and an average day with no prospect for a leap year. As they did every day, large white city buses maneuvered around DC; as they did every time the Ferrari got towed, Ben and Riley were waiting for one of those buses. They weren't alone for long—another man sauntered up and added to the silence, breaking it with a sigh as the wind whipped around the buildings and monuments.
"Hey," he muttered gruffly to Ben. "You gotta light?" In his hand was a half-empty pack of cigarettes.
"Yeah!" Ben reached into his pocket—
POP!
Curious as to where the stranger had suddenly disappeared, Ben slowly rotated on his heels, smoke and bright, flamboyant light spewing from the end of the flare. There was a slight squeak as the bus came to a halt, but no sound whatsoever as the driver gaped at the corner tabloid stand, now engulfed in flames from the jumping sparks.
Ben sighed with some disappointment, but Riley simply smiled grimly, without offering a glance. After a while, he finally did look, but it was brief and coupled with a sigh. "Ben…"
"What?"
"You have got to stop doing that."

Another thing I comment on when watching: "WHERE'D THAT FLARE COME FROM?" It's mainly in the Charlotte, but occasionally I'll say something in Cibola…
Review. You know you want to. (smiles)
