Just Say Yes
This short story is about Penelo and Vaan from Final Fantasy 12 on their airship. It's from Penelo's point of view and all Penelo's thoughts about what they did in FF12. I do not own FF12 or any characters! It's also based on what Lucy and I did on Final Fantasy 12.
'Just say yes; just say there's nothing holding you back'
It was great being with Vaan. I always liked him ever since we were both orphaned by Migelo in Rabanastra. I always treated Vaan like my sibling, my brother of sorts. He was always reckless and at times I've had to stop him and scold him and to be honest I do protect him (Or should I say he protects me!). Needless to say he is a pretty good sky pirate who owns his own ship and I know who he takes after.
His role model is Balthier. He was a sky pirate too and he owned his own airship called the stral. He was not alone though. He had Fran, a female rabbit eared viera warrior. I don't know where he is now. I sort of liked him. He was cocky but in a modest way. I wonder if he is still stealing treasure. Mind you if I saw him, I'd give him a scolding!
Me and Vaan have had many adventures with an assortment of characters. There was Ashelia aka Ashe, the princess of Dalmasca and now queen. She was a bit of a hothead who had lost her husband to something. I must say that I did feel sorry for her. She must have been lonely. Mind you her coronations in a month's time. I can't wait!
Then there was Basch. Although he was a lot older than us lot (He's 36), he was a brute force to our team of six and could whack out enemies without breaking a sweat. Not to mention Larsa. For 12 years old, he certainly knows how to wield a sword and heal us when necessary. When did he afford all those Hi- Potions?
Needless to say it was a brilliant adventure. We took control of our own Espers as soon as we beat them in battle. These creatures of sorts could be called to us in great need but they had to be connected with the user somehow. There was Vaan's esper, Belias. It was a fire god and it always helped Vaan whenever he wanted it too. There was Mateus, owned and controlled by Ashe. The other Espers I cannot remember though I can still see Ashe's face when she got Mateus.
We faced a lot of powerful hunts too. The White Mousse from what I could recall was really the worst battle I had been in. It kept casting blind, poison and other nasty spells on us. We were only low level then, if not equal. It took a brute full of force from us to beat it and get our reward. I remembered Vaan's face when he actually struck it for the final time with his sword! It made me happy knowing he did something useful.
I remembered the invisible love of Ashe and Balthier. I could sense that there was a love arising, like a phoenix rising out of its crackling fire. I could see how loved up they were and Vaan agreed with me on that one.
Now a year or so on, my passion to be a white mage and dancer came true. Vaan became a sky pirate to pilot his own ship. Ashe became queen of Dalmasca. I remember when I was collecting stuff for Vaan I could see her on the balcony of her castle, looking out to the horizon. I still believe that she'd made a great queen, knowing the experiences she faced when she was with us. When I even said that I wanted to be Vaan's partner, he had to just say yes!
