Bringing the Babies Home

Jackie and the babies had been home from the hospital for a couple of days.

Roger was going to stay for a week but Jill was staying for a month and a half to help out with the two new little bundles.

Roger would come back on the weekends when he could.

For most ladies having their mother in law stay with them for a month and a half would be a nightmare but for Jackie having an extra pair of hands is a god send.

The kids had done well with the babies, always willing to help take care of them.

Jackie got up to go to the bathroom and when she came back down stairs Karlie looked at her and smiled.

"Mama, look at me." The little girl said.

Karlie, under Jill's watchful eye held one of the babies in her arms.

"Are you holding one of the babies?" Jackie asked her with a smile.

"Yeah." The little girl replied happily.

"You are such a good big sister sweetheart. Which baby do you have?" Jackie asked.

"The boy one." Karlie replied.

Jackie laughed.

"They are both boys, do you have baby Ryan or baby Boone?" Jackie asked.

"Rine." Karlie said.

"That's right, good job." Jackie told her, although Jackie was pretty sure that was just a lucky guess.

Suddenly Boone started to cry, Nick had tried to put him down in his bassinette so he could go use the bathroom but the baby didn't appreciate it.

For being so young the babies already had their own personalities. Ryan was always content no matter what was going on. He was happy if he was being held or if he was in his bassinette, he rarely cried and when he did it was more of a squeak than a cry. Boone on the other hand was also content as long as he was being held but if you tried to put him down when he was awake he'd scream his displeasure, and he was loud, Jackie wouldn't be surprised if the neighbors could hear him across the street.

"Buddy I'll be right back, I have to go to the bathroom." He told the infant.

Boone didn't like that excuse for being laid down because he continued to scream bloody murder.

"Go to the bathroom." Jackie told Nick as she went over and picked up the infant.

"Shhhhh. It's ok baby boy." Jackie told him as she sat down on the couch and rocked him gently.

Within moments the baby soothed.

Nick came back downstairs and sat down next to Jackie a few minutes later.

He held his hands out to take him again. Jackie shook her head no and just continued to rock him.

"Set him in the bassinette and see what happens." Nick told her.

"We all know what will happen." Jackie said with a laugh.

"Just do it." He said.

Jackie gingerly got up and gently laid the baby in his bassinette.

The second Jackie's hands were off the baby he started screaming.

Everyone laughed.

Jackie picked him back up.

"So Ryan looks like you Nicky and has my sweet disposition and Boone looks like me but has your temper." Jackie told Nick with a grin.

Nick laughed.

"Sure dear." He told her.

"I love you." Jackie told him.

"No you don't." Nick told her.

"Yes I do." Jackie assured him with a smile.

Nick just smiled and shook his head at her.

Nick sat around the room staring at his family and a content and happy smile crossed his face, life couldn't get any better!

The End!
