RILEY

His warm hands were intertwined with mine. My head was slowly lolling along with the movement of our swing.

"Lucas?" I asked. He looked up from the book he was reading. "Yes Riley?" He replied.

I hesitated for a moment. "Do you..." I trailed off, not really knowing what to say next. He just nodded me in encouragement to go on. "Do you remember the first time we kissed?" I said.

It was kind of a stupid question to ask, since we've kissed a thousand times now, but our relationship still feels fragile. Like it'll break any moment.

He surprisingly laughed. "Are you joking? The first time we kissed?" He said. A lump formed in my throat. My lips shivered at his laughter, eyes starting to blur. "Y-you don't remember?" I stuttered.

Then he got the look of concern on his face when he realized what he just said. "Of course I do!" He said quickly. Lucas slid his thumb across my cheek, wiping the tear off. "Oh gods, I feel like I overreacted." I said, still rubbing the tears from my eyes.

"No, you didn't." He said firmly. "I just wasn't paying close enough attention." He brought his lips to my face and kissed every tear drop that fell. It felt like I was on cloud nine when his lips touched my cheeks. When he got me smiling again, he gently placed a kiss on my lips.

"So, how was it like? The kiss, I mean." I said.

"Well I was surprised at your move but it was honestly the best thing that had ever happened to me." He replied. My heart soared at his response. "Best thing?" I repeated.

"Yes Riley. You're the best thing that has ever happened to me. And I like you a lot." He said. Now I felt like a gush of jelly liquid, a million thoughts in my head couldn't interfere with what he just said.

"You know what? We may be only 16 but there is nothing to deny it. Riley Matthews, I love you." He said. I was shocked. The only thing I could do to respond was to kiss him. I kissed him with all I had. I truly did love Lucas Friar. But was I ready to tell him?
