Patricia walked around to the back gardens of the castle, rubbing her forehead. The new butler had just flicked her forehead! He was the opposite of the quietly skilled butler she had envisioned. There was more to this Hirose Yu than met the eye. Patricia grinned. Now she would have a new way of spending each monotonous hour.

The next day, she got up bright and early and rang for him. "Hirose! Come here!" The sound of footsteps echoed in the hall. The door creaked open. "Yes, Missus?"

"Entertain me." The butler chuckled. "Shall I bring you some coloring books? Or perhaps you want a doll?" he teased. Patricia smiled seductively. "Hirose, I want you to keep me company." He raised an eyebrow. "Missus, I have other duties I must attain to, in the castle. Your father has high expectations of me."

"But, Hirose, you are so talented, no doubt you'll be able to finish your tasks in no time at all." She really does have an interesting way of attracting people, doesn't she? Hiding challenges in compliments. Really, I ought to be more cautious around this girl... Patricia gave him a sugar-sweet smile. "Come, talk to me..."

"My apologies, Missus-"

"You are a horrible manservant. I am your employer's daughter, so therefore, I am as much in charge of you as my father. Do as I say." Ah, there is the command. Indeed, she changes tactics quite flexibly. "I suppose I could spare time for your whims, princess." Patricia reddened visibly, trying to control her temper. "Really, Hirose, you are just the perfect, polite butler, aren't you." Yu grinned. She's beautifully fierce when she's angered. "I will bring your breakfast, Missus." He noted her expression. "But are you going to stay and chat?"

"That is what was commanded by the Missus, no?"

"Good." Yu walked back through the hall, leaving Patricia to her own thoughts for the moment. He's infuriating, and undeniably handsome. She felt her face twist into a smile. Hirose is different. Quite. The door creaked open, and Yu walked in with a tray. Sizzling bacon, hot toast with a dab of fast-melting butter spread on top, mushrooms and tomatoes clustered together, poached egg yolks leaking slightly in a dribble of orange-yellow. Pudding, in a little bowl, sat to the right of the tray, and a cup and saucer lay in the corner, a tiny pitcher filled to the brim with milk accompanying it. Yu placed the tray on the nightstand and pulled up a gilded chair to the side of the bed. "Anything else, princess?" Patricia had already noticed the rose, placed tactfully under the silverware, thorns picked off. It was still wet with dew drops. She smirked. Though he might not show it, she might have already captivated the mysterious butler.
