Why….?

"Yuma…"

Why…did this have to happen?

The brunet boy sat alone in his hammock with his head resting on his knees. The teen didn't eat or even smile anymore and it had been nearly a month since his duel with Vector. Somehow, Yuma defeated the insane alien but at what price? Everything that happened…Everything was his fault. The boy let out a few cries.

It's the only sound that Astral been hearing.

" Yuma…please..take care of yourself. " the blue spirit spoke up.

Yuma didn't even move. "Why…?"

Astral blinked. "Yuma..?"

"Why can't we go back? Go back before everything happened and be happy? Back going to school and being normal?" he asked.

Astral didn't reply but the being felt his heart hurt at the boy's sadness.

"I messed everything up!" Yuma cried as he looked up his partner. Tears streaming down his face causing his cheeks to feel stiff. "Rei!…he was my friend…and I didn't..He tried to put me against you and I didn't even realize it! I-I'm so sorry! For everything! I'm sorry! I'm a lousy partner." The boy cried out through his tears.

Astral was taken aback by Yuma's outburst. The boy was so deep in grief that it began to eat away at his very heart. "Yuma…" the spirit spoke up.

"I'm so sorry!" Yuma replied.

Slender blue fingers moved out and rested upon a nest of black hair. They begin to move in a comforting manner. "Yuma. It's alright now….this isn't your fault. It's your nature to trust and sometimes…you end up hurt."

Yuma let out a few sniffles as more tears began to fall from his eyes. "You won't…leave me right? Because of this?"

"Of course not." Astral replied. "We are partners." Astral moved his fingers down and placed them over Yuma's eyes. "It will be alright now." He told. "You should rest."

"Astral…my head feels funny" Yuma replied.

"It will be okay.."

Yuma felt his eyes become heavy and he found himself leaning back against his hammock. The tears stopped and the boy fell asleep. He looked calm and without a care in the world. Astral hovered over Yuma a bit as something began to take form in his hand. It was a card with a faded picture of Rei on it.

"All of these painful memories end here." Astral mumbled before ripping up the card. The memories of Rei and what happened were now gone and Yuma would never get them back.

"Rest well, Yuma…"
