Skin and Stone
Carved in skin and stone
My sorrows breed and bleed
and from my heart blooms
the dream of the sun
to sting my sallow flesh
and from my eyes spring streams
to carry away the pain
in floods of bitter salt water
branching like veins
that snake through my soul
that dies with each day
that I'm trapped in these walls
with the wails and tales
of men
like me
reduced to ragged bones
with breaths that rattle ribs
that cage a heart
that no longer exists
and there only
Beats the fears that leers
at the remains of men
Wasted away like me
Who crave and rave
without the faintest hope of being
saved
