Worm out of Shell
He'd left his shell long ago, but still he
felt the shell cracking, letting him go free –
That small figurine he was, growing wings
such majestic, beautiful, useful, things.
Not just a worm to be squashed anymore.
This was the limit of his growth, his lore.
A limit he could now touch, and transcend.
This feeble small worm state was not the end.
And now there was light in those eyes once dim.
He could grow more and more, to protect him.
