Dear Harleen Quinzel
I just wanted to tell you that you are about to go through a metamorphosis. Soon you will have a new name, a new personality, a new life, and a new man. I understand that you are a very intelligent young woman and very devoted to your career. It is because of this that you have not allowed yourself to have fun anymore. But soon you will meet a man who can make you laugh and bring out a side of you that you have locked away. He will make you feel happy and alive and you will fall madly in love with him. Unfortunately I do me madly in love, because your love for him will drive you insane. It's alright though, because you won't notice or even care that your old self is gone. You'll make new friends, new enemies, and have more fun than you've ever had before.
But before you become the amazing, wonderful, crazy, fun woman whom I am glad to call my hero, I just want to prepare you for the life you about to take on. When I tell you that you love this man, I'm talking about a love that will consume you, body, mind and soul. You will be so in love with this man that the very thought of him betraying you will make you want to kill him, and I am not speaking figuratively. And this man, he will not always treat you like how a woman should be treated. He will not always show you love, affection or even respect. He will use and abuse you over and over and over again until you have no choice but to leave him. However, you will always go back to him when he asks, because you will love him more than you will love yourself. Because when you love someone, you love them with ALL of your heart. It's just the kind of girl that you are. It's the kind of girl we both are.
And he will ask you to come back, over and over again. Because you are very useful to him. You help him with his schemes and you praise him constantly. But more than that, in his own twisted way, he does care about you, and I think he may even love you. While it may not be apparent to others, you do have an effect on him. To quote the man who knows him best, "Expressing emotion in any way that's real and meaningful is alien to him, but he's learning those parts of himself, however, unconsciously through Harley."
So I am sorry to say that he will never love you nearly as much as you love him. But every time he smiles and laughs because of you, every time he thanks you, every time he holds you, every time he calls you his, you will feel a happiness that surpasses anything on this earth. Is it worth all of the pain he will cause you? That's something you'll have to decide on your own.
