It started out as a innocent sparring match between two brothers, or at least, as innocent as anything involving sharp pointy objects can be when two brothers who positively loath each other are involved.
It was a dare, Regulus goading and mocking him into a friendly test of skills. And suddenly Sirius found himself locked in an intense struggle.
Regulus bore down on him with no hesitation, the pointed practice rapier he held pointed directly at Sirius' heart.
Sirius barely had time to get his own rapier up to parry the blow before Regulus whipped around for another. A quick side step saved him. He knew the blade was dulled, but the force Regulus was wielding it with could still skewer him.
"Stop!" he shouted, dodging another blow, sparing a quarter second to stare in confused fright at the rapier buried three inches into the wall directly next to his face.
Regulus pressed forward until their faces so close together Sirius could smell his younger brother's lunch on his breath. "I am the better son." He hissed darkly, then turned on his heel and stormed out of the room, leaving the rapier quivering in the wall, and Sirius in shock.
