Disclaimer: Sadly, I don't own the Hunger Games.

The anthem starts playing and I look up to see the death body of Rue. Rue, the little twelve year old girl from my district. She didn't deserve this. For her death to be thought of like it's just a part of the game. But it's not. Rue is not just a piece in this stupid game. She was clever. Very clever. But cleverness can only get you so far in the Hunger Games. They are going to pay. Not just the person to who killed her, but all of the careers.

I know I'm going to die soon. Then I can join Rue. I get flashbacks of hearing her scream from the nightmares of what waited ahead. I remember going into her room and telling her it's going to be okay. Like I was her brother and she my sister. I'm down to my last minute of being alive and then I will see Rue with her little wings.

"You better win Fire Girl," I say, "You better win for Rue."

Then for the last time I close my eyes and see little Rue smiling next to me.
