A Stare

Sasuke stared into Sakura's eyes.

Sakura stared into Sasuke's eyes.

Neither looked away.

Near them, Naruto, Shikamaru, Chouji and Ino looked on, a little perplexed.

"What is Sasuke-teme doing to Sakura-chan?" asked Naruto.

"He's looking into her eyes," answered Shikamaru.

Ino snorted. "Congratulations on stating the obvious."

Naruto smiled. They looked so in love…..

"Wouldn't it be nice if they got married?" asked Ino dreamily.

The other three just stared at her. Then they looked the couple sitting a little away from them, looking intently into each other's eyes.

Actually, the idea didn't seem so bad. They looked like newlyweds already.

"I'll be maid of honor…" Ino went on in the same dreamy voice.

Naruto raised an eyebrow and an amazing idea came to his mind. "Maybe I can be best man…" he murmured thoughtfully.

Shikamaru and Chouji looked at each other. "I wouldn't mind going for cake," said Chouji while munching some chips. Then Ino hit him over the head for being shallow.

Shikamaru just sighed and muttered "How troublesome.." and went back to looking at the two apparent lovebirds.

The four continued observing the two people they were currently discussing.

Meanwhile…..

Sasuke stared into Sakura's eyes.

Sakura stared into Sasuke's eyes.

Neither looked away.

Until…..

Blink.

Sasuke blinked.

Sakura laughed. "I win!" she exclaimed happily, and looked at Sasuke, triumphant. "You owe me a treat to Ichiraku."

Sasuke rolled his eyes and got up. "Tch," he muttered. Then he bent close to Sakura and said, "Whatever you say, Sakura-chan." Then got up and walked away, leaving a blushing Sakura behind.

He didn't win the staring contest, but he did succeed in making her blush. And from that little piece of victory, he felt immense satisfaction.
