Hinata watched as Sakura, Ino, and Tenten laughed and joked. She had just gotten back from a mission and was upset. Kiba and Shino hadn't let her do much of anything and it made her feel worthless and weak.
She continued to walk to her apartment. When she got there she realized her boyfriend of a year and half wasn't there. she let out a shaky breath she could feel tears pricking at the backs of her eyes as she read the note naruto had left her. She wanted him to hold her and he was off on some mission.
She walked into their bedroom and got a nightgown. Then she went and took a shower. When she was done she got dressed and ate dinner. She walked silently down the hall and into their room.
Almost immediately, her sense of smelled was overpowered by Naruto's scent. She crawled into bed and hugged Naruto's pillow to her. She breathed in deeply, it smelled just like him. She closed her eyes and pretended that it was him.
She was almost asleep when she heard the front door open. Her eyes snapped open and she jumped out of bed. Grabbing a kunai she walked out of the bedroom. She crept down the hallway, she hadn't even thought of activating her byukagan.
She heard the footsteps approach her and she prepared herself to attack. With a battle cry she leapt towards the intruder. Suddenly she was jerked from the air by an arm around her waist.
She was spun around and her back was pressed against someone's chest. Fear gripped her heart; they could easily kill her now.
"Ya know that isn't a very nice way to welcome someone home, love." A voice whispered in her ear.
"Naruto don't scare me like that." She whispered.
"Sorry, love." He said in her ear again.
She quietly led him to their room. Tears pricked at the back of her eyes again, but she didn't want naruto to see them.
"Love what's wrong?" He asked pulling her into a hug. He could sense her sadness.
"It's just I ... I feel so weak. I mean I can't keep up with you in training and Shino and Kiba never really need my help in missions, maybe I haven't changed at all." She answered sobbing into his ANBU uniform. He rubbed her back and comforted her.
"Hinata, love, you are strong the only reason you can't keep up with me in training is cuz Kyuubi doesn't want to be beat by a girl," he whispered, "and Shino and Kiba don't want you to get hurt. you are strong, love."
He led her to the bed as she slowly stopped crying.
"Have I ever told how lucky I am to have you?" She whispered as she curled up to him.
"No, love, I'm the lucky one I thought no one would love me because of what I am." He whispered as they drifted off to sleep.
