"If I'm alive and well will you be there holding my hand?"
--
It's over, Harry thought. I've done it; I've finished him off. A Stunning spell shot past him. Apparently they haven't noticed yet…
His emerald eyes found a target, but before he could cast the spell he heard a cry.
"He's dead," a Death Eater said. Fear was evident in his voice. "Our Dark Lord is dead!" Several gasps were heard at the end of this declaration.
"No!"
"Yes!"
"Is he really? Is he truly dead?"
"He is! His body is right there, near the lake!"
"You-Know-Who is gone at last. Happy days are here again!"
"He made me do it, I swear! I was Imperioused, Imperioused, I tell you! Get your filthy hands off me, you bloody Aurors," the Death Eater who had shouted about the death of his master was yelling as he struggled against a group of Aurors.
Harry ignored all of this and raced into Hogwarts. He galloped up the marble steps in the Entrance Hall towards where Ginny sat crying over Charlie's fallen body. Theodore Nott's father had killed him shortly before Harry had left to finish Voldemort.
The Gryffindor warrior sat beside the youngest Weasley and took her hand to comfort her. "It'll be alright, Ginny. He's dead. Everything will be okay."
She looked up, glaring at the Chosen One with tear-ridden eyes, her face full of hate.
Snarling, she forced him to let go of her hand. "How dare you," she whispered, venom in her tone. "How dare you come back to me as though it will all be right? It's your fault Charlie's dead. Why couldn't you have finished You-Know-Who sooner? Why?" She was shrieking now. "We're through, Potter. Should I ever see you again I won't hesitate to harm you." With that, she broke down crying and pulled Charlie's cold body close to hers.
Harry stood and wandered down the stairs, tears in his sorrowful green eyes.
