Hey everyone. Here is another assignment story for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This is for Divination: Scrying and I choose to write for Task 2. The task was to write a story about someone trying to learn about their future via scrying. I may have made Hermione a little bit out of character for this one near the end. But I can also so see Lavender and Parvati doing this in the Gryffindor Common Room. So I hope you all enjoy What the Future Holds.

I listened as Lavender and Parvati sat in the common room and laughed at something or other. Knowing them it would be something their favorite teacher had shown them. Sybill Trelawney.

I huffed as I turned towards the two who were sitting with their heads together over something or other. "What are the two of you doing?" I asked them incredulously.

"We're trying something we learned in Divination class this morning," Lavender told me with a snide sneer on her face.

"It's called scrying," Pravati told me excitedly. "Supposedly this can tell you the future. We're trying to see who we will end up married to."

I shook my head at the two of them. First of all, Lavender had no reason to be snide with me. It wasn't my fault that Ron and her broke up to begin with. Second of all, divination was sketchy at best.

"I don't hold stock with what Divination tells me," I told them as I went to get up and go to my room and continue to do my homework for the day. "It's sketchy at best and not to be relied on."

"If it's sketchy," Lavender replied, "you won't be opposed to me and Par scrying to see who you'll end up married to then?"

I gave her an incredulous look again. Didn't she get that I just wanted to leave the situation? Not continue to talk about it.

"What's the worse that could happen?" asked Parvati. "You learn your going to end up with some loser?"

"Alright," I gave in with a sigh a few more moments of arguing with the two of them. It seemed I wasn't going to get any peace until I let them do what they wanted.

Lavender smirked at me and motioned me over. She pulled the crystal they had been looking at the whole time from between the two of them. "Here you have to look into the crystal and think about your future husband," she told me holding the crystal out towards me.

"Of course, you have to be holding the crystal or it won't work," Parvati told me. She nodded for me to take the crystal from Lavender with an excited look on her face.

I sighed yet again. I guess it would be best to just do it and get it over with. I reached out and took the crystal from Lavender's hand. I didn't see how this was going to work.

"Ok, Hermione," Lavender told me, "just think about your future husband and we will see his face in the crystal." She nodded as she and Parvati leaned closer to the crystal and me.

I rolled my eyes I thought about what I would or who I would like my future husband to be. I hadn't been looking at the crystal because I didn't think anything would happen. That is until I saw the looks on both Lavender's and Parvati's faces. Not that I believed that this crystal would tell me who I was going to marry but I had to see what they gaping at. I looked down and shocked to see the face of one of my best friends in the crystal's face. Ron Weasley was staring up at me.

Letting the crystal drop from my hand I jumped to my feet. I didn't believe in Divination or any of this stuff. Why had I even let them talk me into doing this?

"This doesn't mean anything," I told them. "It's just the crystal reflecting back Ron's reflection from the mirror." I gathered up my items and raced up the stairs not waiting for a reply from the giggling duo.

Years later on Ron's and my wedding day I couldn't help but wonder had I been wrong about Divination and scrying all along. It had predicted this day all those years ago when I was in school.

I hope you all enjoyed What the Future Holds.
