Martin rolled his eyes at the smirk on Samantha's face, which irked him just slightly. He was still cold.

"Martin."

"Yeah." He followed the implied command instantly.

Jack sat in Vivian's chair appraising him. "You're insane, Fitzgerald. The things you do I don't claim to understand. This is two cases in a row now you've done something to either save the day or screw it up royally. You drive me crazy and I still think you need your head checked."

Martin didn't know whether to be offended. "And."

"And as long as you know when to back off," his boss intoned firmly, "I think you're worth the Advil." Jack extended a hand. Martin took the firm grasp and risked cracking a smile, then turned to go.

"Martin."

"Yeah." Turning back.

"You sure you're Victor Fitzgerald's kid?"

Now Jack was smirking, too. Martin laughed quietly, shrugged, and headed for home. It was a little warmer now.
