I feel like I'm floating I think to myself as I pass threw the portal. But suddenly I'm free falling through what seems like forever darkness. I hit the ground with a loud thump. With my eyes still closed I dig my nailes into the moist soil and try to fight he hysteria rising inside me. I open my eyes and stand up shakily. I turn in a frantic circle and look for my mom. Nothing. So instead I take in my surroundings. TO the left are rolling hills of lush green grass that spread as far as the eye can see. To the right is a ranges with tall snow capped mountains that border the feiled. I shiver looking at the snow, only now noticing how cold I was. I rubbed my arms in attempt to get warm. It was night here unlike in new York which was still afternoon. I turned around and saw a lake. It reflected off the moon like a silver coin. I walked over too it to get a better look. It was strange. It had no current so it looked smooth as glass. I felt almost As if you can walk on it. I bent over to touch it when a voice made me freeze in place.
" I wouldn't do that if I were you"
I whirled around startled by the sudden break of silence. In front of me was a tall boy with blond hair gold eyes and pale skin.
" that" he said jerking his chin in the direction of the lake " is toxic to shadow hunters". I starred at him unmovingly. He starred back with a since of impatience.
"b-but its just a lake" I said. He rolled his eyes.
" and that's a tree and thats a rock and tha-" he began but I had cut him off.
" I get it." I said dully. Then a spark of confusion sprung about something he said. " wait what's a shadowhunter?"
He let out an exasperated breath and talked slowly as if i were nothing but a Toddler. " Your mom is a shadowhunter. Shadow hunters kill demons. Understand?"
I look at him in confusion then threw my head back laughing. This guy is crazy I think. " my mom is no, so what you call " shadow hunter" she's a painter who lives in a small apartment in new York" I say between fits of giggles. He looks at me impatiently.
" belive what you want" he said. "i don't have time for this" he turns around and starts to walk away.
" wait, I get it...your crazy" I say
He turns on his heels to face me. " I'm not crazy" I laugh a little historical sound.
" yes you are!" I say.
He takes a step toward me and i take a step back, but what I thought was land was actually water. He lounges forward to catch me but I've already fallen backwards by then. When I hit the lake its freezing. Like shreds of ice peircing threw my clothes. I try to swim up but the water keeps pushing me down. Which I found strange since it has no current. I looked up to see that I couldn't see the moon any more in fact i couldnt see anything, just the blacky depths of the lake. My lungs were burning now. I used my last bit of oxygen to push myself upward but accomplished no such thing. Now I felt myself loosing consciousness. I focused on the water it was smooth almost...pleasant. I stopped fighting it and let it push me down into the never ending pool of darkness. I closed my eyes figuring that IT wAs no use trying to see anything.
My last memory was a pair of strong arms warped around my waist pulling towards the surface.
I wake with a start. I sit bolt straight on mY bed. A thin lawyer of sweat had formed on my forehead. It was all a dream I think to myself. A very strange dream. I pull myself out of bed, get dressed, and hurry out the door into the damp overcast morning of new York.
