Disclaimer: Mwahahaha!! I'm really suffering here. Not sure if it's from lack of sleep, or what, but there's something wrong with me tonight. I think my muse has been working overtime. This is the third oneshot I've written today. It's a good thing I don't have to pay her. I'd never be able to afford her otherwise. Even with my job, which is the real reason for the overabundance of musings today. Too much time to thing. It's not like running a rock crusher is exactly mentally stimulating. Just physically taxing… Meh, I say that works for a disclaimer. I'm too tired to write a real one. I wouldn't be surprised if this disclaimer turned out to be longer than the actual story…

The Dress, the Cruise, the Ring

"Hey, Lils!" James leaned over the back of the couch Lily was sitting on, kissing her softly on the cheek.

"Hey, what's up?" Lily lifted her arms, putting them around his neck.

"I have something for you."

"Really? A present? For me? What ever for?" Lily grinned impishly at her boyfriend.

"Mm, just 'cause."

"What is it?" Lily bounced around, turning to look James in the face.

"Here, open it." James pulled a large, flat box from behind the couch.

"Ooh, a big box!" Lily pulled it toward her, untying the red bow.

"I hope it fits. I just guessed…"

"What?" Lily asked distractedly, busy pulling the top off the box. "Oh…" She pulled a black evening gown out, standing up and holding it to up to herself. The gown was simple and elegant, sleeveless with delicate beading swirling down the bodice and around a slit in the skirt. "It's beautiful… But why?"

"There's more." James pulled an envelope out of his breast pocket. Lily took it, slitting the top with a fingernail. She pulled out two slips of paper. "A cruise? You bought me tickets for a formal cruise?"

"Tickets for you and me, actually."

"Really? Separate rooms, I hope."

"Actually…" James indicated the room number on the tickets. Realizing they were the same, Lily flushed. "There's more."

"More than this? What could you do more than this?" Lily asked, incredulously indicating the beautiful dress and the tickets she held.

"This." James pulled a small box out of his pocket, getting down on one knee. "Will you marry me?"

Lily gasped, putting a hand to her mouth.

"I hope this speechlessness is a good sign?"

"Yes!" Lily pulled James to his feet, kissing him soundly. "Yes, of course!" The couple sat, and Lily carefully folded the dress into the box. She grinned. "Hey, is there any more?"

"What more could you possibly want?"

"Hm. Good point." Lily sighed happily, snuggling against her now fiancé. His arm went around her and together they sat, quietly making plans for the summer, when their lives would come together and be one forever.

………

Hey, I managed to make the story longer than the disclaimer! I always knew that one wasn't going to be long, so I'm not disappointed in the length. Review please!
