Anna woke up with a start. Groggily, she felt around for the lamp switch. Finally finding the tiny switch, she flipped it on and the room flooded with dim light. Rubbing her eyes, she looked to her right and sighed. He had disappeared yet again.
From the doorway, a little boy of 5 watched the scene with large chocolate brown eyes. Clutching his blanket, he patiently waited for his mother to acknowledge him. After a few minutes, Anna looked up. Her own brown eyes turned soft at the sight of her son. Her son, and Yoh's. Yoh. Yoh and Hana. The resemblance was amazing. Father and son had everything in common from their deep understanding eyes to their silky brown hair. She felt as if she had no part of any of it. She felt oddly alone in the small but cozy family.
"Yes, Yo-" Anna bit down on her lip and gripped the edge of her covers. The little boy stood every so still, still watching his mother. Anna shuddered for a moment before holding out her arms. "Yes, Hana?" Hana made no movement to run into the safety of her mother's arms but his lips parted and Anna waited, dreading the words that would come out of his tiny mouth. The words that had been repeated over and over again and haunted her.
"Daddy's gone again."
