Kisses On The Stars

Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge Stewart sighed as he looked out of the window at the stars above and thought of home. He shifted as he tried to get comfortable in the rusty fold up bed he'd been issued with, and he thought of his little girl at home. This wasn't the first time his role with UNIT had taken him away from her, and every time he had to go away it was getting harder and harder to leave her behind. He imagined holding her in his arms as she told him what she'd got up to at school that day and wished he could be there to read her a bedtime story and tuck her in tonight. Indeed if there was anyone who could make him pack up his life with UNIT and leave the Doctor and his crazy world behind it was his little girl – but in his heart the Brigadier knew that he was fighting for a better world and the chance to keep her safe, and that had to be enough, for now.

He turned to look up at the stars and blew them a kiss, hoping that they would carry his love to her.

"Goodnight Katie." He whispered. "Daddy will be home very soon."

He only hoped that there words would prove true as he turned over and tried to get some sleep – dreaming of the little girl he lived for, and missed every day.
