Drunk Last Night by SecretAuthor1592
It was four days before Christmas and Lily Evans was sitting in her room listening to sad music and trying to muffle her sobs with a pillow. This was Christmas break of her seventh year at Hogwarts and she had done something she had never thought she would do- invite James Potter to spend Christmas break at her house. But then again, she had also never expected him to be her boyfriend.
And now after having been home for only a few days, they were already fighting. Lily took a deep breath and sighed. The tears were slowing now and she was getting a headache from all the crying. James had left about two hours ago and she wasn't sure where he had gone. Probably to Remus's house, which was where the other marauders were spending the holidays.
Lily's parents had let her be alone after seeing it was what she needed, and she was grateful; but now what she needed was to get out of the house. She glanced at her clock. It was only 9:30PM, plenty early enough for her to go out. Besides, if needed she could always use her magic to get her out of trouble. She changed into some warmer clothes and grabbed a coat before heading outside.
Three hours later Lily stood on the doorstep of a slightly rundown house, knocking loudly. Even though she was very drunk, she was still able to make it here. It was somewhere she had been too many times to forget. She could've probably made it here in her sleep.
The door opened to reveal a very sleepy looking Severus Snape.
"What do you wan- Lily?"
"Sev," she began, and he immediately noted her slurred speech, "I need to talk to you." She tried to take a step forward and stumbled. Severus reached for her and caught her around the waist. He then led his ex-best friend inside his house. He could smell the alcohol on her breath as he led her to the couch.
"Lily, have you been drinking?" he asked her, though the answer was obvious.
She stared at him for a minute. "Sev, can I stay over? I don't want to go home."
Severus's heart stopped for a moment. Lily Evans, the girl of his dreams was asking to sleep at his house. "Why do you need to stay the night?" he asked, realizing that that was an important question.
"I had a fight with James and I don't want to go home yet," she mumbled.
Jealousy filled Severus; Potter was staying at her house? Then he remembered- they were dating; had been for the last month. As much as he loved the idea of having Lily with him for the night, he knew that her and Potter would be fine by the morning and that she wouldn't want anything to do with him once she was sober.
"Lily, you should probably just go home. I can walk you home if you want." He didn't look at her while saying this. It was hard enough to tell her this at all, but to look at her while rejecting her would've been impossible.
She reached out and touched his arm, "Please, Severus, I miss you."
And that was all it took to convince him. He took her hand and led her upstairs to his room. She had barely managed to remove her coat before she collapsed onto his bed, snoring softly. Severus smiled slightly. He knew she would probably regret sleeping over when she woke up in the morning, but for the moment he didn't care. He was going to enjoy this dream.
He crawled into bed next to her and pulled the blankets over the both of them. Then he leaned over and kissed her lips softly.
"Good night, Lils. I love you." Was all he said before drifting off into the most peaceful sleep he had had in two years.
