This is just something I thought of because of the six year anniversary. I don't own LOST...

She had lost both of them. Tom and Jack. They were both gone. Kate didn't know what to do. She had Tom's old toy airplane from the time capsule, but she didn't have anything of Jack's. When Kate got home, she didn't know what to do. She couldn't sleep at night because she had nightmares about the island. Kate could barely live with the fact that she left Jack. Kate had to do something.

She still had the key to Jack's apartment. The night she got into his house, the night before they left for the island, she took a key. That's how she got in. And, surprisingly, she still had the key at her house.

So, one night, Kate decided what needed to be done. She left her house and let herself in Jack's apartment. Kate spent many hours in her love's home, going through all of his clothes. She took them out and held them close to her face, taking in his scent. Oh, how she missed him.

After smelling all of his clothes, Kate changed into a pair of his boxers and one of his t-shirts. Just wearing his clothes and taking in his scent made Kate relax. That night she fell asleep in his bed and she slept through the night for the first time in months.

On his dresser was the bottle of cologne that he wore. Kate took it the next day and went to the store to buy another bottle. She stayed in his apartment a second night, wearing his clothes to bed once more.

She wasn't crazy. As the months passed, Kate practically moved into his apartment. Claire, Frank, James…they all knew she was there. They didn't question her motives though and they let her be. Claire visited her a few times, bringing Aaron along. Claire missed Jack too, and sometimes it was hard t go to her brother's apartment. So when Claire visited Kate it was usually at Kate's house.

James even stayed in touch with Kate. They had coffee every week and comforted each other. The comforting took place at Kate's house usually and during the sex Kate would pretend that James was Jack. Kate knew that James imagined sleeping with Juliet, and Kate really didn't mind. After the sex, James would leave and Kate would go back to Jack's apartment.

When his clothes lost their scent, Kate would spray them with his cologne. Kate never wanted to forget his scent. When the cologne ran out, Kate would go and buy another bottle. The saleswoman always asked Kate who it was for. Every time she was asked that Kate always replied, "My fiancé."

Never once did Kate shed a tear for the fact that she and Jack never got married. Kate was just happy that she got to spend those years with Jack even though they had their moments.

All Kate had now were the memories and his scent. She would live the rest of her life with him in her memory. She would love him forever.
