A/N: Warning, I have no fucking clue what this is. It kind of makes sense in my head but it doesn't translate well, I don't think...The idea is there. If you can figure out what I was trying to do with the parenthesis then I applaud you, good reader. Carry on.
Loki liked to pretend he didn't have a conscience. No conscience meant no differentiating between right and wrong. No guilt, no regret, no hesitance. If he didn't acknowledge those feelings, it was almost like they weren't there.
(Lies are for children.)
He had mastered ignoring these feelings by now- he didn't care when he fought with Thor (his brother, his friend for so long..) It just felt normal now. He had grown utterly unattached to the oaf, and it had become easier to fight him without feeling like he was fighting family.
(But Thor was family, and that wouldn't change, no matter what he did or said, despite the blood in their veins.)
Thor was a fool and he was getting what he deserved. He could never properly rule, no, he would throw Asgard into war without thought or care. Loki thought it better to get rid of him, and rule himself- would it not be better this way?
(But he grew up with Thor, he looked up to his brother when they were children, how could he end that life that was once so precious to him?)
Thor was not his brother, he was not anything to Loki.
(He wasn't blood but he was family, and somewhere inside Loki felt the pain of every wound he ever had or would inflict on Thor.)
He would rule Asgard wisely, yes. With feelings out of the way he would not make such rash decisions as Thor. He would think things through and make smart choices instead of jumping into battle. (He would prove his worth and show everyone who said he would never be as good as his brother.) All of Asgard would listen to him and follow, for they would know his word is wise... (He would just end up deceiving them, as always, it seemed that was all he could do: deceive, manipulate, destroy.) He would be a great ruler. (He would be the fall of Asgard.)
His conscience had left him long ago, and his mind was clear of such emotions.
Clear to rule. He deserved this. He would do whatever it took.
