Note: The idea came to me. But the characters from the show or show don't belong to me. This is a one shot.
It was another year and another moment in time. There was hope in the air, that could be felt if you dare. There was a love like no other that wasn't before or since. That doesn't mean it was perfect, but it was true love the kind that Soul mates forever beyond everything share.
It was something that was shared in a glimpse across the room as if seeing each other for the first time. Yet it wasn't the first time, it wasn't the second, it was beyond a million times that he had looked at her. He knew that she was the love of his life. He knew how he had treated her both times they were married. But he loved her, that was his most precious truth. But there was a part of him that was afraid to tell her. What if she told him to go? What if she said no? What if she never wanted to see him from even across the room?
JR Ewing looked at his John Ross then stared across the room as he had done time after time at these parties, at the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. The love of his life, the mother of his child John Ross, his ex wife Sue Ellen Ewing. John Ross watched as his father stared at his mother.
John Ross: "Oh just tell her already."
JR: "I can't."
John Ross: "Don't tell me that the great JR Ewing can't tell his ex wife that he still loves her?"
JR: "She would never understand... why would she accept me ever again?"
John Ross: "Well there is only one way to find out..."
John Ross flashes back to 3 weeks earlier during a party that was taking place at Southfork. He looked at his mother who had a smile on her face. She was standing where she stood when she married JR for the second time. John Ross wandered over to his mother and looked at her.
John Ross: "You're still in love with him?"
Sue Ellen: "Yes... but I can't just say those words... some much has happened."
John Ross goes back to present time and looks at his father.
John Ross: "Just go ask her to dance. That couldn't hurt... could it?"
JR looks at his son and grins.
John Ross: "And remember flash that smile of yours. It works every time on her."
He chuckles. JR shakes his head and walks up to Sue Ellen who was talking to Ann and Bobby. He touched her shoulder.
JR: "Sue Ellen?"
She turns and looks at him and smiles.
Sue Ellen: "JR I was just thinking about you... I see you were talking to our son. I hope you are giving him good advice. "
JR: "Of course I am... I was wondering if you would like to dance?"
Sue Ellen looks at JR and smiles even more.
Sue Ellen: "Yes, I would love that."
JR takes Sue Ellen's hand and they dance for awhile. Then a slow dance starts she puts her head on his shoulder. Everyone in the room could see they still loved each other. It was undeniable. John Ross walked over to Bobby and Ann and smiled at them.
Bobby: "What did you do?"
John Ross: "I just pushed them just a little bit toward each other... so they will say to each other what the whole world already knows."
Ann: "That they still love each other! And their love has grown stronger then ever before."
John Ross: "Yes."
Ann and Bobby looked at John Ross and smile at him.
JR and Sue Ellen continued to dance. They looked at each other and looked into each others eyes in the second they both knew what the other was thinking. And they kissed each other like never before.
Sue Ellen: "I love you JR... I always will."
JR: "I know... I love you too..."
He touched her cheek and smiles as they continued to dance. They danced the night away and kissed each other once more that night. They both knew that nothing would ever be the same. This time they knew that their love would last forever!
