Hold Me Close, When it's my Time to Go
I am dying in your arms tonight,
My little girl, but it will be alright,
For there's a light I see within your eyes,
But I promised myself I wouldn't cry,
I've lived a life without regrets,
Seen some things, so please don't fret,
Just hold me now, until I sleep,
And when I've gone please don't weep,
For death is not the end I know,
I've seen enough to know that's so,
So sleep a while, and when you wake,
Know that I've gone to a better place,
My only wish is that we'd had more time,
For all those times I watched you shine,
And all those moments that I missed,
On silver stars I blew a kiss,
So as I blow another now,
Know that I will never let you go,
And when life leaves you feeling sad,
You'll feel me close, for I'm your dad,
By a summer's breeze I'll dry your tears,
I'll give you courage to fight your fears,
My life has reached its end tonight,
But my daughter the futures bright,
So hold me close when it's my time to go,
For death is not really the end, I know.
